Albums of the Decade - 39. Sun Kil Moon - Amongst The Leaves (2012)

 39. SUN KIL MOON - AMONGST THE LEAVES (2012)

Perfect time to post this, as autumn flows and dark nights go noir. Leaves are everywhere and no local municipality can sweep them away.

This singer-songwriter was an absolute treasure find last decade, with this essentially a double album full of cultivated wonders that this listener can really mellowly harvest.

Amongst the Leaves is a lot more understated than the much more commended follow-up Benji - this one floated my boat a bit more due to its length and breadth - it is a double disc, if I can use that term any more.

Moaning about touring the UK, through typical Yankee eyes, gushing over street-cats and lambasting poor journalism - this album has it all for a top chestnut of observational folk music.

Albums of the Decade - 79. Moon Duo - Mazes

79. MOON DUO - MAZES

Tonight is Moon Duo night, continuing the cosmos theme after my last Bowie post. Moon Duo are one of the most underrated bands of the last decade - producing psychedelic space-rock in the same vein as Spacemen 3 or My Bloody Valentine. Prolificacy is the key, as they have put out seven albums in eight years.

I have picked their debut album from 2011 as their go-to though, as it sets the tone for their irresistable pulse. Scuzzy as a fuzz. Less fussy than your cuz. Dress-uppy and plus plus plus. Scrappy and the band. Bandwidth and truck temptation. Drive and speed-up a degree. Go up the gears and feel like you just turned twenty-three. <3 p="">

Albums of 2012 - 18. Thee Oh Sees - Putrifiers II EP

18. THEE OH SEES - PUTRIFIERS II EP

I know nothing about this band, other than I have seen their low-profile presence in the underbelly of the blogosphere. I don't really go to blogs, they come to me. I don't really like smart-phones. I actually can't be arsed with most shit. This band however, are worth the time.
I just googles them and thought "oy yeah, now I remember." They are from San Fran and are pfolific as shit. They have changed their name a bunch of times and have released a million albums. Maybe it's why I have ignored them or kind of subliminally rejectied them.  However, I'm a firm believer that if something is so good with la musica, then sooner or later it will be found.  For the most part anyway. And, for the most parts mates, this albums finds a "form band" apparently blasting out great, pressure-free, avant-garde garage rock. Just look at that weird animal thing in the pic. Do you know how many times it took me to get that image thing saved on here? Too many, it's a crazy beast.
