84. Air - 10,000 Hz Legend (2001)
Air's 'Moon Safari' is one of my favourite albums from the 1990's. It's serene, stylish and seductive and is Air's masterpiece. It took them three years to follow it up and noone was really expecting them to go all prog-up-in-the-place, but they did. 'Electronic Performers' has robots running the narrative, in an eerily similar fashion to Daft Punk in and around the same time. Back to the album: Air are not the only ones going loopy on this one, as Beck pops in for a couple of songs that are just as madcap as anything as he's ever done, especially 'Don't Be Light'. Other highlights include the outstanding 'Sex Born Poison,' that still blows my brains out with its sinister shifts in mood and language. It creeps up on you like a stalker would, the only difference being that you won't want to resist with this album. Air can still seduce you, even when being weird.
